Lisbon, 27 May 2008 Vodafone Portugal total revenue amounted to 1,473.1 million euros in FY 2007/08 (year ended on 31 March 2008), an increase of 7.8% over last year.
Vodafone Portugals service revenues were 1,336.7 million euros in the twelve months ended on 31 March 2008, an increase of 7.3% on the previous year. This made Vodafone by far the fastest growing operator in the Portuguese mobile market, in which growth generally did not exceed 5.1% in the same period.
Vodafone Portugals EBITDA and operating profit also grew significantly, by 12.5% and 17.8% respectively compared with the previous year, to 529.9 and 340.4 million euros in the twelve months ended on 31 March 2008.
Vodafone Portugal won 458 thousand new customers between April 2007 and March 2008, achieving a mobile customer base of 5.209 million registered customers on 31 March 2008.
In the first calendar quarter of 2008 (which is Vodafones 2007 last fiscal quarter), Vodafone once again registered market share gains in Portugal, having increased its market share of service revenues to 40.4% and its market share of customers to 35.9%.
The Vodafone Group announced today an increase in its worldwide customer base to 260.5 million proportionate customers and total turnover and adjusted operating profit of 35.5 and 10.1 billion pounds sterling (approximately 50.4 and 14.3 billion euros) respectively in the twelve months ended on 31 March 2008. Vodafone Group currently has equity interests in 25 countries across five continents and a further 42 partner networks worldwide, and has a stock market capitalisation of around 109 billion euros.
