Lisbon, 1 June 2010 – Vodafone Portugal today launched a promotion for customers travelling to South Africa this summer. Between 1 June and 31 August, Vodafone customers will be able to make calls in South Africa as if they were in Portugal by simply activating the Vodafone Travel price plan and registering with the South African operator Vodacom.
Under this price plan, outgoing calls will be charged at the rate of the first minute of the customers price plan in Portugal, plus a fixed charge of 79.4 cents per call. Incoming calls will be charged at the same 79.4 cents per 10 minutes of call time.
Customers who do not yet have the Vodafone Travel price plan and wish to subscribe to it should call 1222 (or 351911222000 when roaming) and follow the instructions. The call is free, even when roaming, and there is no activation cost.
To give an example, a customer with the Vita Total price plan who makes a five minute call from South Africa to Portugal will receive a discount of 82% on the standard roaming rates. On a five minute incoming call the discount is 78%.
This promotion is part of the strategy to differentiate Vodafones roaming service which aims to provide its customers with the most attractive and competitive roaming rates on the market.
Note: All prices stated include VAT at the applicable rate (20%).
