Inviita supported by Vodafone Power Lab receives European Entrepreneurship Award

Europe Day, 9 May, is marked by the presentation of Entrepreneurship Awards 2015. Vodafone is pleased to announce that Inviita, an application developed under the Vodafone Power Lab innovation programme, is the project that was awarded the first Entrepreneurship Award, an initiative by the European Commission Representation in Portugal.

The official presentation of the Entrepreneurship Awards will be made by European Commissioner Carlos Moedas at 4 pm on 9 May in a public session at Belém Cultural Centre.

Inviita is a social app that inspires and simplifies travel planning.

Inviita is an app with an intuitive design that inspires and simplifies travel planning, enabling users to discover unique itineraries created by other travellers with similar interests.

The app, which works in any city in the world, features tourist content including places of interest, provides useful information about mobility and transport and can be even used offline. While planning a trip users can also book hotels or tourist attractions.

The beta version for iPad will be available for testing within a few days, with the official launch on iOS (iPad and iPhone) scheduled for the end of the month. An Android version will be the next step.

Inviita was the winning project in the BIG Apps powered by Vodafone Power Lab innovation competition, a programme designed to encourage innovation and support entrepreneurship.

Vodafone Power Lab is a programme designed to encourage innovation and support entrepreneurship, whose aim is to encourage the creation of technology projects through mentoring, workshops and training, among other possibilities promoting the development of new companies. The 2015 edition of this programme includes various initiatives such as the TV Innovation Challenge competition, which is now open for entries; BIG Smart Cities, a project that encourages the creation of technologies to improve the lives of those who live in and visit cities by making them smarter; and start-up accelerator programmes at incubation centres, including UPTEC in Porto and the Vodafone Lab in Lisbon. These centres encourage mutual enhancement of competences between the university and business worlds, creating a favourable ecosystem for innovation and the start-up of advanced technology-based companies.
