Vodafone launches Indie World for independent film fans

July 15, 2016
Vodafone’s exclusive content for television continues to surprise with the launch of the Indie World interactive application. Devoted to independent cinema, the TV app features dozens of films made by over 60 celebrated directors from around the world.

Americans Spike Jonze, Tim Burton and “Benh” Zeitlin (directors who have either won or been nominated for the Oscars), India’s Anurag Kashyap (a regular at festivals like Cannes or Locarno and nominated for a BAFTA), Brazilian Roberto Berliner and Mexico’s Aurora Guerrero are just some of the film directors with works featured in the catalogue of this app, which is available at position 107 of the Vodafone TV channel grid.

In a highly intuitive menu, the more than 50 titles – which include shorts, feature films, animations and documentaries – are grouped into categories, making it easier to search. The categories are: Loves and Quarrels, Adventures and Misadventures, the Female Dimension, Troubled Youth, Adulthood, Parents and Children, Cartoons, If the Music Could Speak, If it Does Not Go Well … and Journey to the Centre of Me.

Renewed monthly with the addition of new films, the Indie World TV app is available for a monthly subscription of €4.99 and promises to delight audiences who like to discover films apart from the usual box office fare, which are usually only shown at film festivals and which depict stories, situations and cultures from five continents.

The launch of Indie World enhances Vodafone’s content and interactive applications, which already include Super8, Disney Movies on Demand, Playtime and others, addressing the different needs and tastes of its customers.
